The Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, has donated GH¢100,000 towards the completion of the Alhaji Sumaila Mosque at the Yagbon Residential Area in Damongo in the Savannah Region.

The donation, made on behalf of his mother, Hajia Fatima Nuhɔ, is intended to support the completion of the mosque and provide a befitting place of worship for residents of the Yagbon Residential Area and the wider Damongo community.

Hajia Fatima Nuhɔ, who regularly offers prayers at the mosque, is said to have developed a deep personal connection with the place of worship, prompting the family’s decision to support its completion.

The contribution was formally presented on behalf of Hon. Mutawakilu by Hon. Abu Mahama Salange, a Board Member of Ghana Water Limited.

Presenting the donation, Hon. Salange conveyed the Managing Director’s commitment to supporting the completion of the mosque and contributing to the religious and social development of the community.

He said the gesture reflected Hon. Mutawakilu’s broader commitment to community development and initiatives that promote faith, unity and stronger communal bonds.

Hon. Mutawakilu expressed the hope that the donation would accelerate work on the mosque and enable it to serve as a suitable place of worship for Muslims in the Yagbon Residential Area and the wider Damongo community.

The Imam and congregation of the Alhaji Sumaila Mosque expressed their appreciation to Hon. Adam Mutawakilu and Hajia Fatima Nuhɔ for the contribution.

They prayed for Allah’s continued blessings, protection and guidance for the donors and their families. The GH¢100,000 contribution adds significant momentum to efforts to complete the mosque, which is expected to serve not only as a centre for Islamic worship but also as an important space for community interaction and social cohesion.
