The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has commissioned its new Head Office Complex, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s efforts to strengthen utility regulation, consumer protection and service delivery.
The commissioning was performed on behalf of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, who represented the President at the ceremony.
The new facility is expected to enhance PURC’s institutional capacity and provide the Commission with a modern working environment to effectively discharge its mandate of regulating public utilities, protecting consumers and promoting improved service delivery.

Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor commended the Board, Management and staff of PURC for bringing the project to completion, noting the important role the Commission plays in ensuring accountability and efficiency within Ghana’s utility sector.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting PURC as it works to strengthen regulatory oversight, improve the performance of utility providers and protect the public interest.
The Energy and Green Transition Minister stressed that the true value of the new facility would ultimately be determined not by its physical structure, but by the quality of services delivered to the Ghanaian consumer.

He underscored the need for PURC to continue pursuing effective regulation and ensuring that consumers receive reliable, efficient and accountable utility services.
The commissioning of the complex therefore represents more than the opening of a new administrative facility. It signals a renewed institutional commitment to strengthening Ghana’s utility regulatory framework and placing consumer welfare at the centre of public utility governance.
Hon. Jinapor congratulated PURC on the achievement and encouraged the Commission to remain focused on its mandate as government continues to pursue reforms aimed at improving Ghana’s energy and wider utility sectors. “The work continues,” he said, reaffirming the government’s determination to work with institutions such as PURC to deliver better services and protect the interests of Ghanaians.
