The Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq., has presented the region’s development scorecard to the President of the Republic, highlighting major investments in roads, education, healthcare, agriculture and local infrastructure under the government’s reset agenda.
The presentation was made during the President’s landmark visit to the University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), Wa, where the Regional Minister outlined what he described as a region undergoing significant transformation.
The presentation brought together the President, Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, traditional and religious leaders, and residents of the Upper West Region.
According to the Regional Minister, decentralised transfers to the region’s 11 Municipal and District Assemblies have increased by more than 400% since 2025, supporting the construction of CHPS compounds, classroom blocks, boreholes and markets across the region.
He further indicated that the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) is delivering nearly 110 projects in the region, including a new Senior High School at Issa and additional facilities at UBIDS.
Under the Big Push Programme, Hon. Puozuing said, an estimated GH¢4.79 billion is being invested in more than 300 kilometres of roads, describing the intervention as the largest road investment in the region’s history.
The Regional Minister also highlighted the construction of 11 new markets under the 24-Hour Economy Programme, the establishment of Farmer Service Centres, and the Sheapark Resource Hub, which is expected to empower more than 7,000 women.
While acknowledging challenges, particularly delays in the execution of some road contracts, Hon. Puozuing maintained that the region’s development needs were receiving attention and that its investment opportunities remained significant.
He expressed appreciation to the President and the government for what he described as their commitment to the development of the Upper West Region. “Upper West is being reset,” Hon. Puozuing told the President and the nation, presenting the region’s development story as a reflection of the government’s reset agenda.
