Former NDC Parliamentary aspirant for the Wa East Constituency in the Upper West Region, Prince Razak Moomin Tachi, has commissioned a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Chawuli-Fali to improve teaching and learning in the community.
The project, which started on 4 October 2024, was completed on 11 September 2025 and has since been handed over to the community and Ghana Education Service.
The new facility comprises six classrooms, a staff common room, teachers’ bungalow and headteacher’s office. It is also supported by a mechanised borehole, providing potable water for pupils and teachers.
Before the construction of the new school, pupils in Chawuli-Fali were learning in an old mud structure that was in a poor and almost collapsing condition. The situation exposed the children to the scorching sun and made teaching and learning particularly difficult during the rainy season, when classes were often disrupted.
The completion of the new school block has therefore brought relief to pupils, teachers, parents and the wider community.
As part of efforts to complement the infrastructure and improve the quality of education, Prince Razak Tachi also donated Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) to the school. The materials are expected to help teachers deliver lessons more effectively and make learning more practical and engaging for the pupils.
Representing the Wa East District Director of Education at the ceremony, District Education Management Information Systems officer, Abubakari Zangadaa Sumaila expressed appreciation to Prince Razak for the intervention.
He said education was a shared responsibility and could not be achieved by government alone. He called on individuals, traditional authorities, communities, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to support efforts to improve education in the district.
According to him, providing classrooms and learning materials was important, but ensuring that the facilities and materials were properly used and maintained was equally necessary.
He therefore urged the people of Chawuli-Fali to take ownership of the new school and protect the facility for the benefit of present and future generations.
Mr. Sumaila also appealed to parents and guardians to take an active interest in their children’s education by encouraging regular school attendance, providing the needed support and working closely with teachers to monitor the progress of their children.
He further encouraged teachers to demonstrate commitment and professionalism and make effective use of the materials provided to improve learning outcomes.
The traditional leaders and opinion leaders of Chawuli-Fali expressed their excitement over the completion of the project. They commended Prince Razak Tachi for responding to a major challenge facing the community and said the new facility would create a much better environment for their children to learn.
They also pledged to support efforts to protect and maintain the school so that it would continue to serve the community for many years.
The Chawuli-Fali project forms part of Prince Razak Moomin Tachi’s continued efforts to support development in communities across the Wa East Constituency, particularly in areas where residents face challenges with basic social amenities.
For the children of Chawuli-Fali, the new school represents more than just a new building. It offers a safer place to learn, access to basic facilities and renewed hope for a better educational future. The completion of the project is therefore a significant milestone for the community and another reminder of the important role individuals and communities can play in complementing government efforts to improve education in deprived areas
