After 38 remarkable years of dedicated and selfless service to Mole National Park, the Wildlife Division, and the Forestry Commission as a Human Resource Officer, Chief Amankwa Yakubu has officially bowed out of active service.
In recognition of his long-standing contribution to wildlife conservation and the development of the park, Mole National Park organized a colourful retirement send-off ceremony on the 3rd September 2026 to celebrate a career defined by commitment, discipline, hard work, and service to the nation.
The ceremony brought together a wide range of dignitaries, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers who came to honour and celebrate the retiree. The occasion was graced by representatives of the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, representatives from the Office of the Member of Parliament, traditional authorities, family members of Chief Amankwa Yakubu, sister organizations, staff of Mole National Park, and other friends and associates.
Also present were representatives from Mole School and Clinic, Mole Motel, Zaina Lodge, as well as other institutions and organizations within and around the park community.
The gathering provided an opportunity for speakers to reflect on Chief Amankwa Yakubu’s years of service and the impact he made throughout his career. In their farewell messages, the Regional Manager of Mole National Park, representatives of partner organizations, traditional leaders, and staff members expressed their appreciation for his dedication, professionalism, and contribution to the growth and success of the park.
For many of his colleagues, his retirement marks the end of an important chapter in the history of Mole National Park. Over the years, Chief Amankwa Yakubu served in an environment that demanded resilience, commitment, and a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife. His 38 years of service therefore stand as a testament to the value of experience and dedication in the conservation of Ghana’s natural heritage.
The emotional moments of the ceremony were accompanied by presentations of gifts in cash and kind from colleagues, organizations, friends, and well-wishers. The presentations served as tokens of appreciation for the years he devoted to the service and as lasting reminders of the relationships and memories built throughout his career.
As he takes his well-earned retirement, Chief Amankwa Yakubu leaves behind more than years of service. He leaves behind memories, relationships, lessons, and a legacy of commitment that will continue to inspire those who worked alongside him.
The Mole National Park community joins family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers in wishing Chief Amankwa Yakubu a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retirement.
