Godfred Dassah Unveils Vision for Inclusive, Truth-Driven Communication in Daffiama–Bussie–Issa Constituency

Godfred Dassah, a young a communication strategist and media practitioner pooularly known as “CONTROLLA GH” has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Daffiama–Bussie–Issa (DBI) Constituency of the Upper West Region, outlining a vision centred on timely communication, grassroots participation, transparency, and unity.

In his declaration, Dassah described communication as more than the dissemination of information, saying it is a vital instrument for building trust, connecting people to a shared vision, and ensuring that every voice from the smallest community to the constituency leadership is heard and respected.

“I believe communication is not merely about passing information; it is about building trust, uniting people around a shared vision, and ensuring that every voice within our constituency is heard, valued and represented with clarity and integrity,” he stated.

Having worked in communications since 2016, both within the party in the constituency and within the civil society space, Dassah said his experience has strengthened his belief in storytelling as a powerful tool for political engagement.

 According to him, effective communication must employ diverse approaches, including videography, audio recordings, posters, social media and direct interaction with constituents.

He stressed that political communication should consistently keep party members and constituents informed about decisions, projects and activities through timely and accurate information.

“Communication must connect, inform and unite the grassroots. Once people understand the common goals we are pursuing, they become active participants in the development of the constituency,” he explained.

As part of his vision, Dassah intends to establish a decentralised communication structure by empowering zonal executives and chairpersons to serve as frontline communicators within their respective electoral areas.

He believes such an approach would ensure information reaches every community promptly while strengthening internal party engagement.

“In the first year, I want every zone to lead communication within its area. Over time, the system should become self-sustaining, where information flows effectively even without my physical presence,” he noted.

A strong advocate for digital communication, Dassah said social media platforms must be used strategically to project the positive image of the constituency rather than merely reacting to political discourse.

Despite building a significant audience on TikTok, he revealed that he has deliberately focused on promoting the constituency instead of personal branding.

He also emphasised the importance of visual documentation, saying every developmental project from sod-cutting ceremonies to completion should be professionally documented through videos and photographs to ensure transparency and provide factual evidence for constituents.

According to him, credible documentation remains one of the most effective ways of countering misinformation and propaganda.

“I believe in telling impactful stories with accuracy. It is not necessarily about being the first to publish, but about ensuring the information is truthful and meaningful,” he said.

Dassah further pledged to foster unity within the NDC by promoting open, honest and respectful engagement among members while harnessing the strengths and expertise of party communicators.

“As a team player, I will leverage the strength and skills of all party members to build a formidable communication front that can stand the test of time,” he said.

He cautioned communicators against inflammatory rhetoric, especially during election periods, stressing that political communication should inspire unity rather than division.

“We are working for the NDC, not individuals. We must be careful with our words because we will always return to the same people to seek their mandate. There should be no room for comments that promote disunity,” he stressed.

Addressing the developmental needs of the constituency, Dassah identified poor road infrastructure, deteriorating bridges, weak telecommunications networks, and unemployment among graduates and skilled artisans as pressing issues requiring greater public attention.

He argued that understanding the real challenges confronting communities enables communicators to deliver the right message through the most appropriate channels.

Declaring that he stands for truth, justice and accountability, Dassah said constructive criticism should always be welcomed, while unfounded attacks should not distract the party from its mission.

He also appealed to party supporters to remain patient and committed to the ideals of the NDC.

“Party supporters worked tirelessly to bring the party into power, but we must manage our expectations. Let us remain committed to the ideology of the party and always place the grassroots at the centre of everything we do,” he urged.

Presenting himself as a servant-leader rather than a seeker of personal recognition, Dassah said his ambition is to serve as a bridge between the party leadership, stakeholders and the grassroots.

“I do not seek personal recognition. I seek the opportunity to serve as a bridge between the party and its stakeholders, between leadership and the grassroots, and between vision and understanding,” he said.

He called on delegates and party members to support what he described as a collective communication agenda aimed at strengthening the NDC in the Daffiama–Bussie–Issa Constituency. “I ask for your trust, your support and the opportunity to serve. Together, let us build a communication system that connects, informs and unites our people for the greater interest of the NDC,” he stated.
