Ghanaian contemporary artist Dr. Ibrahim Mahama has been awarded the prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Republic, recognising his significant contribution to the arts and his growing influence on the international contemporary art scene.
The distinguished honour was conferred at a ceremony held at the Résidence de France in Accra, where family, friends, former schoolmates, teachers and loved ones gathered to celebrate the milestone.
The award was presented personally to Dr. Mahama by H.E. Mrs. Diarra Dimé Labille, Ambassador of France to Ghana, making the occasion a significant moment of cultural exchange and recognition.
The honour adds to the growing international recognition of Ghanaian artistic excellence and places another spotlight on the country’s vibrant contemporary art scene.
