Ghana has taken a significant step towards strengthening its petroleum downstream sector with the inauguration of a Steering Committee to oversee the development of the country’s Petroleum Downstream Infrastructure Master Plan (DIMP).
The Master Plan is expected to provide a comprehensive framework for addressing infrastructure gaps, improving the efficiency and utilisation of existing petroleum assets, and strengthening downstream petroleum logistics.
The initiative also seeks to create a more predictable and investment-friendly environment to attract the capital needed to expand and modernise Ghana’s petroleum infrastructure.
Speaking at the inauguration, the sector leadership said the objective was to develop a practical and implementable roadmap that responds to Ghana’s future energy needs while supporting economic growth and strengthening national energy security.
The Master Plan is expected to guide policy direction, inform investment decisions and provide a coordinated approach to the development of critical downstream petroleum infrastructure.
The Steering Committee has therefore been tasked with delivering a strategic plan capable of driving meaningful transformation across the downstream petroleum sector and positioning Ghana to better respond to emerging energy demands. The development of the DIMP forms part of broader efforts to build a more efficient, resilient and sustainable petroleum downstream industry capable of supporting Ghana’s economic transformation.
