Ten natural leaders in Yaala No. 1 have successfully completed a capacity-building training aimed at strengthening their leadership in Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and promoting lasting improvements in household and community hygiene.
The training focused on three key areas: participatory planning and management of CLTS activities, the relationship between human excreta and health, and safe hygiene practices.
Through interactive discussions and practical learning, participants deepened their understanding of the health risks associated with poor sanitation and the importance of community-driven solutions.
The natural leaders pledged to take ownership of their community’s sanitation needs. They committed to promoting positive behaviour change, mobilising households and encouraging collective action towards a cleaner, safer and healthier Yaala No. 1.
By equipping local leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills, the initiative seeks to strengthen community ownership and accelerate progress towards achieving and sustaining Open Defecation-Free (ODF) status.
