Kazigu PƐ Parekure Asangchera Alua has donated a bag of maize to the Navrongo Prisons.

The chief of Kazigu was the 2011 Overall District Best Farmer of Northern Ghana Christian Chiefs Association. (CCA)

This my the widow might of one bag of maize for prisoners is to enable me to appeal to the government through the press to send COVID-19 relief funds to rural banks in the country to give loans to peasant farmers who are customers of the rural banks for the same period as it is being done to SMEs through NBSSI in the country.

I am particularly appealing for the  NAARA RURAL BANK LTD, and the BESFA RURAL BANK LTD, GARU which have been supporting peasant farmers with their own funds since these farmers were introduced to the two said banks in 2015 by Northern Rural Growth Project (NRGP) to date.

These peasant farmers who are in solidarity groups of between 15 and 30 members are now too many for the two banks to manage with their own funds.

I have been borrowing from NAARA RURAL BANK LTD to do my farming since 2010 to date but due to the increase in the number of grou, therefore,k is unable to meet the requirements of all farmers. I should, therefore, be most grateful if Rural Banks in the country are supported with covid-19 relief funds to loan to peasant farmers across the country especially the northern sector where I come from.

It is my on the action that when peasant farmers across the country are supported with the stimulus package to purchase farm equipments, seeds and inputs to expand their farms, there will be food security and poverty will be a thing of the past.

It is also hoped that the Ministry of Agriculture will absorb the many Northern Rural Growth Project (NRGP) Groups across the northern sector and support the groups with planting for food and jobs (PFJ) inputs and facilities to increase agricultural production, in the entire northern sector.

Last but not the least, their awareness-raising responds funds for local NGOs and CBOs to access for awareness-raising in rural communities wherepractisingion is going on now.

The rural communities are currently not practising any of the covid-19 protocols and it, therefore, disastrous if the disease enters our rural areas. Steps should, therefore, be taken to raise awareness and sustain education to prevent a disastrous situation.

I wish to end by appealing for the above to be considered to make sure that nobody is left out according to Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). Thank you.
