The president of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has assured residents of the Upper East Region that the Bolgatanga to Pulmakom road will be completed before the 2020 election.
He said this addressing a durbar of Chiefs and people at Gingande, in the Bawku Municipal of the Upper East Region, on Tuesday, 13th August 2019.
The president appealed for the support of all Ghanaians for the programs and policies being implemented, adding that “Without your support, without your unity amongst you, it will be very difficult for us to achieve our targets and our purposes. That is my appeal to you.”
The president visited the Kulungungu-Bridge, linking to Burkina Faso, still ongoing and promised to have finish by next year by the contractor.
Later at 6:17 pm, the president arrived at the Pusiga Chief Palace with his entourage.
The Chief of Pusiga, Naba Ibrahim Ayomah Aguuri , presented to the president the their grievances which a few include; The completion of the Community Senior High School, Pusiga-Bengula-Widana road linking to Togo, Construction of Kultamesi bridge which serves as a canal to the White Volta, Security on our borders most especially with the issues raising from Pulmakom-Togo and construction of graining system.
The chief also recommended the hard work of the District Chief Executive of Pusiga and how swiftly he had been responding to their calls.
The president also asked the chief to help the District to develop, and that the District would be given a hospital, and the community senior high school would soon be completed, and the bridges would be improved, and the Pulmakom-Togo border dispute would be settled.
The Ministers of Education Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Minister of Free Senior High) echoed on the Community Senior High School.
He said “Nana, every contractor has been paid up to June 2019 and hence; the contractor can be ordered to visit sites any moment.
The chief once again thanked the president for visiting the soil of Pusiga, for being the second President to have visited the soil of Pusiga after the late President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the first.
