The Walewale highway road has recorded high accident rate this year; says by the Northern Regional Road Safety Commission Director, Alexander Ayata.
At the town, the roads have been taken over by heavy-duty-trucks, tricycle-motor-bikes, food-vendors and hawkers.
But when contacted, the Municipal Chief Executive, (MCE) Mohammed Abu said the Assembly was to meet the rest of the stakeholders for a solution.
However, it has been over two months now and nothing has changed.
A bread seller situated at the roadside said: “It is dangerous when school children are crossing the road to home after closing, you have to shout on motorists before the children can cross.”
Walewale is one of the two Municipal Capitals of the North-East Region. It is settled at opposite sides of the highway from Tamale to Bolgatanga to neighboring Burkina Faso.
It is the home of the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
