The Nkwanta Police Command has held a sensitization forum with some religious leaders against infiltration of terrorists.
The District Commander, ASP Ayensu Williams Asare said he took the initiative following the recent terrorist attacks on a church in neighboring Burkina Faso and also because both the Nkwanta South and the Nkwanta North Districts shared boundaries with Togo.
But, the only command in charge of the two districts has 47 police capacity.
“It has happened in Burkina Faso, and in Ghana, we also share boundaries with Burkina Faso. Nkwanta North and Nkwanta South also share boundaries with Togo and it may spill over here,” said by the Commander.
He said they were working to nerve breaking point because the number of personnel for the two districts was inadequate.
He said it was so because some had gone on retirement and some had refused postings to the area without any replacement.
“Some of us do twenty-four hours. We are handicapped but we have to do things to save the country.”
But, the leadership of the Muslim caucus failed to attend the forum.
To this end, the Commander asked the pastors to cooperate with them for effective security of the area.
He advised them not to rush into the police station to talk on behalves of suspicious characters under arrest.
He admonished the leaders to educate their members against shielding potential criminals because such could turnout been terrorists.
The ASP cautioned parents to protect their children from kidnappers.
