Alliance for Community Investment Association (ACIA) held it’s general meeting at Nyoli to empower women improve upon progressive agricultural activities.

The event was Chaired by Hon. Ashetu, the Assembly woman for Nyoli electoral area which was attended by women within the Wa West District, the meeting was focused on assisting farmers to enhance their farming potentials.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Association Mr. Elvis Narko Dari in his address gave an assurance of giving the possible support to the women within the district.

He added that, the major aim of the Association is to help reduce and eradicate poverty in the Wa west District through agricultural activities, since agriculture happens to be the backbone of Ghana among other professions.

He stated that the Association is working hand in hand with other NGOs, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the District Assembly and Stakeholders to improve upon quality farming machineries and services such as tractors, combined harvesters services, spraying machines among others to improve farming practices.

Madam Vida Diorotey, who is a Gender Desk Officer of Wa West District also pledge that, her office will offer full support in assisting the association to grow, she encouraged women to be determined and committed so as to achieve their goals.

She noted that, talents of women should not be limited to agriculture but much effort should be given to sanitation issues in the various communities and the district as a whole, as well as entreating landlord’s to have toilet facilities in their homes, in order to avoid open defecation as well as improve quality and healthy life in the environ.

Women present at the meeting appreciated all efforts made by the various stakeholders and Alliance for community investment association for organizing such educational program, they note that such programs should be held from time to time to help equip the district.

Also machineries and fertilizers needed to improve agriculture within the district should be made available and accessible to help enhance the agricultural sector, they pleaded.

Mr. Osman who is representative for the agriculture sector from Wa West District noted that the ministry is putting in much effort and measures to overcome inadequate fertilizer supply to farmers among others within the shortest possible time.

Madam Eid who is a Gender specialist Social Entrepreneurial International – Wa ,gave a brief account on the NGO’s activities including; assisting people with affordable loans, giving aid to widows, assisting brilliant but need students.

She noted that the NGO will soon begin building houses for widows as their latest project.
The event was honoured by Sunkarah Mahama (Yipieni Naah).

Some women in the meeting expressed their gratitude and excitement during a magnificent Brifour cultural display by the Lassie Youth cultural group that joined to exhibit the rich culture of the Brifour’s.

Chief Sunkarah Mahama (Yipieni Naah), stated that, every developing community and country needs to self discipline as well as hardworking in attaining it’s goals and for that matter peace, unity and love should prevail in the entire environ for better development, he stress.
