The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana in collaboration with the Lutheran Media Ministry has organised after-Easter funfair games to mark its 60th anniversary celebration.
The event was held at the University of Ghana Park, Legon, in Accra, today (April 22, 2019)
Speaking at the event, the Country Manager of the Lutheran Media Ministry, Mr. Nicholas Sarkodee-Addo said the occasion was to reignite and reinforced “love and “unity” among the members, the country and the world at large.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sarkodee-Addo stated that the Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in Germany by Dr. Martin Luther, and later under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, men and women spread the Ministry to the USA. Missionaries were sent to Ghana and today, the Ghana Evangelical Lutheran Church is 60 years old in the country.
“Christ has risen, indeed the love with which He saves the world is the reason for our coming here together.” The country Manager reiterated.
The event was organised under the motto: “Arise and let us build together” to in part contribute to the church’s vision: “Bring Christ to the Nations and the Nations to the Church.”
The event brought together five member-churches in the Greater Accra Region and they are as follow: the All Saints Lutheran Church from Anyaa; the Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church from Kanda; the Trinity Lutheran Church from Tema; the Calvary Lutheran Church from Ashiaman and the Peace Lutheran Church from Sapieman.
When asked, the country manager said it was important to continue walking in the love and unity of Christ because man by nature was gullible to strive and greed and with those it was not possible to build a country together.
He said at this point Ghana as a country needed love and unity than ever to build the country together. He said without love it was difficult to give the credit where it was due and that could consequently cripple efforts to build the nation-state together.
The Board Chairman of the Lutheran Media Ministry, Ekow Coleman said the event was mainly to serve God for His faithfulness towards the Ministry and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana.
He said: “We want to use this platform to share fellowship and strengthen ties within the Lutheran family.”
The Audience Relations Manager of the Lutheran Media, Madam Olivia Akumani outlined some important programs through which the church was pursuing its vision. Those are as follow: Gospel Based Radio Program (In-Touch) Uniiq 95.7fm, Bible Correspondence Course, (BBC) Equipping to share (Evangelism Training) E.T.S., Rural Evangelism, (Film Show) Campus Ministry, Medical Outreach, Soup Kitchen, Letter-by-Letter Reading Clinic and Sports Ministry.
