Justice Anthony Issah, Bawku, Wednedsay, 6.35pm, 16-Aug-17
Bawku Senior High Technical School in the Upper East region is a nightmare.
At the school; no street light, no dining hall, inadequate dormitories, poor water system forcing students to queue for water from two boreholes.
Also there is no accommodation for teachers, and for students’ a number of classrooms have been converted into dormitories.
The headmaster of the school, Mr. Bukari Abdulai is left with only a cup in hand begging Bawku Municipal Assembly, the central government, and nongovernmental organisations to come to their aid.
He told the bridge’s Anthony that he used the school’s money to mechanised one of the two bore holes constructed by Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mahama Ayariga.
He said due to inadequate accommodation facilities, some teachers posted to the school could not stay and had to leave for different schools.
He added that the situation was killing morale of both teaching staff and students particularly in teaching and learning.
Mr. Bukari said, for example, the 1,874 student capacity had to queue each morning at the feet of the two boreholes for water which often takes hours before classes could start.
He therefore appealed to the government to continue ongoing projects in the school such as the dining hall, teachers’ accommodation, and two uncompleted boreholes.
